Meet Our Instructors

Marie
Violin
From Glasgow, Scotland, Marie Forestier studied at the Royal Academy of Music and Drama and has been teaching for 30 years at the
Conservatory of Music in Edmonton. Her students have been prize winners at local, provincial, and international competitions.
She has a love and gift for working with very young children, as young as 2 years old.
Marie has been a freelance musician, performing in various ensembles and orchestras in and around the Edmonton area and also in the United Kingdom.

Michel
Classical Guitar
Michel Forestier began his classical guitar studies with Carl Lotsberg in Edmonton. He continued his studies during the summers at the Orford Arts Centre in Quebec, and at the Shawnigan Summer School of the Arts in British Columbia. He has performed as a soloist and in various chamber music ensembles on television and radio.
For many years, Michel taught classical guitar at MacEwan University’s Alberta College Conservatory of Music, and is also a faculty member at The King’s University in Edmonton. He remains active as a performer, arranger, and chamber music coach.
Lessons with Marie
Violin
Marie offers 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons for students of all ages and abilities. A typical lesson plan is based in classical violin training and upon request fiddle repertoire may be accommodated.
Students have the opportunity to be accompanied by Marie on the piano during lessons. The incorporation of piano in lessons is encouraged as it is vital to the development and understanding of music.
